Bishop Love will be sending you all his first Update tomorrow. Meanwhile, let me give you some details about what is happening in the Diocese.

VISITATIONS: Last Sunday, +Bill was at Church of the Cross, Ticonderoga. He reports a good congregation with an excellent brunch in the parish hall. Mother Marjorie Floor is fully recovered from her surgery. I was at Zion, Morris where an outstanding choir and spiffy acolytes offered good support in worshipping our Lord. Enhanced Coffee Hour gave an opportunity to talk with many of the sixty-eight people in attendance, who had positive things to say about their Rector, Bob Witt.

BEAVER CROSS INFIRMARY: Construction begins Monday! Come and watch as the walls go up. Stay for lunch at the Welcome Center. A project of Episcopal Charities, this much needed facility will have bed space for ill kids, a nurse's apartment, and first aid training space.

NEW DEAN: Father Jim Loughren has been appointed by Bishop Dan to replace +Bill as Dean of the Southern Adirondack. Congratulations, Dean Loughren.

PRAYERS OF COMFORT: Somehow we missed notifying you that Susan Bowman's mother, Belle Blount, died on August 28. "Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord."

ANNUAL MISSIONS CONFERENCE: This Saturday, October 21, 2006, 9 to 3, Spiritual Life Center. Come be a part of this! Kevin Steckline and Jane Corbett will fill us in on our latest mission efforts in Sudan, and Gus Calvo will give us an inspirational talk on the call to mission. Lynn Bouterse from the South American Missionary Society (SAMS) will also be with us to give us a briefing on missions in this hemisphere. Music by Broken Oaks.

DIOCESAN CONFERENCE: We have been most fortunate to sign Bishop Ed Salmon to speak to all of us on Saturday morning, November 4, in the Christ the King Chapel at the Spiritual Life Center. Hopefully, representatives from every parish will be present. Talk it up and come in caravans. Bishop Salmon will tell us the story of the Diocese of South Carolina, to help us look toward the future in the Diocese of Albany. He is an excellent and entertaining speaker. CONFIRMATION SERVICE AT THE CATHEDRAL: All parishes are invited to bring Confirmands to the Cathedral on November 5 at 4 pm, for an All Saints Evensong and Confirmation Service, to be led by the Dean and Choir, with Confirmations by Bishops Love and Bena. This will be a magnificent worship offering to Almighty God. Details:

1. Confirmands are asked to arrive by 3 p.m. for rehearsal.

2. Clergy are asked to contact Ray Rockwell at rrockwell@albanydiocese.org (copy to jcarroll@albanydiocese.org) by Monday, October 30, with first, middle, and last name of those being confirmed/received/reaffirming Baptismal Vows. All clergy should vest for this service - Red for Confirmation.
